It is no secret that the state of electricity supply in this country is still
epileptic. I am glad to let you know that other nations of the world have gone
past this problem. The solution adopted by most of them is the easiest, cheapest
and cleanest you can find.
Now, I
am talking about solar power technology, Hydro-electricity generation, Thermal
Energy, Bio-mass, just to mention a few. I am so particular about the solar
power technology because Nigeria is one on of the countries that is very close to
the equator. What does this imply? It means this country has almost 100% access
to solar energy, which is a huge advantage to us as a country. But this advantage
has not been really harnessed by the country. I know that someday, renewable energy
will become the order of the day in the Nigerian power sector. Pending the time
that will happen, there is no law restricting individuals from having their own
solar power plant. Meaning you can have constant power supply all to yourself
in your home or office.
The
age of nonrenewable energy sources is gradually fading away. You know what I mean.
Enough of generator, coal etc. which are presently the order of the day. The
exhaust from generator destroys the ozone layer. It destroys the climate. There
are even cases of families that died through the inhalation of carbon-monoxide
from the exhaust of their own generator.
I conclusion,
I advise individuals to pursue their own solar power project. It is cheap, efficient,
clean, it does not generate waste and it is also very portable. Sunshine is
available everywhere in the country.
